Stately Giraff with "no roll" Handicraft
Clothespins
Material
2 Forster "NO-ROLL" Clothespins
two 1" long sections of a 1" diameter dowel (or use 1 1/4" beads with
flattened ends)
one 1/2" x 5/16" wooden peg
1 craft stick
2 flat toothpicks
1 brown chenille stem
two 10mm eyes
white or wood glue for glueing the wood parts together
yellow paint
brown construction paper
craft glue for adding the chenille stem
Instructions:
For the neck, cut a Craft Stick 3 1/2" long and trim the cut-off end
as shown:
Glue the neck to the flat end of one of the 1" dowel sections. Glue
the wooden peg to the other flat end, as shown, to form the snout.
For the horns, cut two toothpick sections 1/2" long. Make two holes,
about 1/4" apart in the top of the head using a hammer and a 1 1/2"
finishing nail. Another method is using a small electric craft or hobby
drill using a 1 116" - 3/32" drill bit.
Cut a section 3/4" long from the Craft Stick and then cut the section
in half lengthwise to make two ears. Glue the ears to the upper sides
of the head.
Gue one clothespin to each end of the other 1" dowel sections to form
the body and legs. Glue the neck to one end of the body.
Paint the GIRAFFE yellow. Trim with brown circles that have been made
with a paper punch.
For the tail, cut a 1 1/2" piece of brown chenille stem and glue it
to the back of the body. Glue the eyes to the head and mark the nostrils
with a black marker.
