Vine Climber  
Materials:
  • 1 - ¼"  X 6" X 12" plywood
  • Wood sealer
  • Gloss Acrylic Paints - deep brown, beige and black
Other Materials:
  • Jig saw or scroll saw
  • Sandpaper
  • Carbon paper
  • Dull Pencil or Stylus
  • Brushes - 1/4" flat, #2 round and #1 liner

Instructions:

  1. Trace two copies of the pattern onto the wood and cut them out with the saw.
  2. Sand the pieces; front, back, and sides until smooth.
  3. Seal the pieces with a coat of wood sealer and let dry.
  4. Sand lightly once more.
  5. Apply a coat of brown paint and let dry. Apply a second coat if necessary.
  6. Paint the face (the eye and snout areas) beige.
  7. When dry, paint the eyes white, the facial outlines, body lines, belly button, ears, eye outlines, pupils, mouth and nose detail black. Let dry.
  8. Secure the vine climber to one of your hanging house pl winding the vine or stem of the plant first through one of the monkey's hands and then the other, then through one or both feet. Or, you can hang your vine climber by his tall. Either way, he is a delightful addition to any house plant.
