You'll need to prepare meringue shell
for this desert the day before you want to serve it.
Ingredients:
- 3 egg whites
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 pkg. (3 oz) cream cheese
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1 cup miniature marshmallows
- 1 can cherry or strawberry pie filling
Method:
1. Heat oven to 275 degrees F. Cover a baking sheet with brown paper.
2. Beat 3 egg whites until foamy. Gradually (1 Tbsp at a time) add 3/4
cup sugar and cream of tartar while continuing to beat at high speed.
Beat until egg whites are very stiff but not dry.
3. Spread the meringue on the paper covered baking sheet in the shape
of a large heart. Bake at 275 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Turn the oven off
and leave the meringue shell in the oven overnight (with the door closed).
4. Beat together the cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla until smooth.
5. Spread cheese mixture over heart meringue.
6. Beat whipping cream until thick. Add marshmallows. Spread over top
of cream cheese layer.
7. Drop spoons full of cherry or strawberry pie filling over top of
whipped cream layer. You may only need half of the can.
8. Refrigerate until serving time. |
