Ice Candles
List of supplies
  • wax, solid color of your choice
  • clean milk carton
  • taper candle in the same color as your wax
  • ice cubes
  • empty, clean coffee can
  • small saucepan
  • craft knife

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the milk carton, then cut the top off of the carton using the craft knife.
  2. Put some water in your pot, place the coffee can in the pot and fill with your wax. Melt over low heat.
  3. When the wax is melted, place the taper candle (standing up) in the center of the milk carton and hold it in place. Pour in about 1" of melted wax. Hold the taper candle in place until the wax is set.
  4. Fill the carton 3/4 full with ice cubes, packing them in all around the taper candle.
  5. Pour more melted wax into the carton. The wax will run in between the ice cubes. Make sure you pour a solid layer of wax up to the rim of the taper candle. (That's why you didn't fill the carton full with ice.)
  6. Let the wax set overnight. Unmold the candle over the sink, so the melted ice can drain out.
