Materials:
- 2 1/2" to 3" terra cotta pot
- 12" nylon cord
- 3 large red, green or gold beads
- acrylic craft paints - red, green, gold and white
- paint brushes
- spray on polyurethane
Instructions:
1. Paint the rim and the inside of the pot gold using a large paintbrush.
2. Paint the rest of the pot white using a large paintbrush. Let the paint dry.
3. Using
a small, fine-tipped brush, paint green holly leaves with red berries
on the white portion of the pot. Paint all the leaves first and then paint
the berries. See pattern at right for holly shapes.
4. Tie a knot in the end of the nylon cord. String on one bead.
5. Move up the cord about 2" and tie another knot in the cord. String on another bead.
6. Now, pull the cord through the drainage hole in the pot such that the second bead rests on the inside of the pot. (The first bead at the end of the cord will be the bell clapper).
7. String on the third bead to hide the drainage hole. You can tie another knot here if you like, but it's not necessary.
8. Cut the cord to the lenght you desire for hanging, and form a loop at the end, tied with a knot.
